The VELARYION series is Il Disgelo’s dedicated line for salt spray corrosion testing, designed for the validation of materials, surface treatments and industrial components under controlled accelerated environmental conditions.


The chambers are engineered for continuous operation in highly aggressive environments, ensuring operational stability, cycle repeatability and compliance with major international testing standards.

 


Testing Philosophy


VELARYION chambers reproduce accelerated yet realistic corrosion conditions through programmable cycles combining:
 

  • Controlled salt spray exposure

  • High-humidity phases

  • Controlled drying phases

  • Temperature-regulated cycles


This approach enables the identification of degradation mechanisms, design criticalities and long-term durability issues, improving correlation with real operating conditions.

 

Operating Parameters

 

VELARYION chambers cover a wide operating range, allowing both standard corrosion tests and combined environmental testing:
 


Temperature range: +20 °C to +70 °C

Relative humidity: 20 % to 98 % RH


Test types:

  • NSS (Neutral Salt Spray)

  • AASS (Acetic Acid Salt Spray)

  • CASS (Copper Accelerated Acetic Acid Salt Spray)


Additional modes:

  • Damp heat testing

  • Dry test cycles

  • Combined cycles with humidified or dry air

 

Structure and Materials


The test tank is manufactured in Titanium (1 mm thickness), a design choice ensuring:
 

  • High resistance to corrosive agents

  • Long-term structural stability

  • Reliability during extended testing campaigns


Spray nozzles are manufactured in AISI 316 stainless steel, ensuring durability and uniform salt solution distribution.

Control System and Data Management


VELARYION chambers are equipped with an industrial control system based on Siemens PLC with dedicated HMI interface, ensuring precise regulation and full traceability of test parameters.


The system allows:
 

  • Advanced cycle programming (up to 120 programs, 99 steps each)

  • Real-time monitoring of temperature, humidity and spray parameters

  • Data recording and CSV export via USB

  • Data storage capacity up to 10 years

  • Remote supervision and control via Ethernet


An external rainfall detection system with dual sampling points is integrated to verify correct salt solution deposition.
