ITALIAN INSTITUTE OF TECHNOLOGY PROJECT
Dry Room for IIT | Environmental Park Turin
Implementation, performance, and continuous operation
A high-performance dry room was designed and installed for the Italian Institute of Technology within the Environmental Park in Turin. The 26 m² chamber is dedicated to advanced experimental work and ensures stable microclimatic parameters required for research activities carried out by the Polytechnic University of Turin.
Guaranteed operating parameters
-
Dew point maintained at -25°C
-
Ambient temperature controlled at +25°C
-
Internal pressure stabilized at 5 Pa
These conditions have been consistently maintained in continuous operation for over four years, ensuring high reliability.
Construction features
The infrastructure was engineered with materials and solutions designed to maximize efficiency, insulation, and long-term durability:
-
High-density, anti-slip resin flooring
-
Polyurethane foam paneling, 48 kg/m³
-
Antechamber designed to stabilize humidity and manage entry airflows
Air distribution system
Air handling is managed through perforated micro-channels operating at low velocity. This design ensures uniform environmental conditions and provides maximum comfort for operators during experimental activities.
Dehumidification system
Dew point stability is achievedthrough a combined system featuring:
-
High-efficiency enthalpy wheel
-
Direct-cooling pre- and post-cooling coils
This configuration allows the system to reach and maintain the required parameters continuously, even during intensive use.
Maintenance and operational continuity
The dry room has been running continuously for four years. Annual maintenance activities are carried out by specialized technicians and have ensured consistent performance without significant service interruptions.
