Il Disgelo Walk-In Chambers: custom-built, reliable, high-performance
 

Among the most requested climatic chambers, a prominent role is played by Walk-In chambers, also known as "walkable" chambers.
Il Disgelo designs, manufactures, and installs fully customized Walk-In climatic chambers, tailored to the client’s specifications, while maintaining an excellent quality-to-price ratio.

These chambers can be configured in two main versions:

• Welded structure, ideal for high-temperature testing up to +180 °C, and hot-humid cycles at +90 °C and 95% RH

• Or with insulated modular panels, joined using high-strength interlocking joints, supporting operation up to +130 °C, while offering greater modularity and flexibility

The refrigeration units, entirely developed by our in-house technical department, support low-temperature ranges down to –80 °C, ensuring maximum accuracy and control in simulated environmental conditions.

Among our most recent projects, we highlight a 50 m³ Walk-In climatic chamber, equipped with a double door for DUT access and a service door for operators.
A version with antechamber is also available, developed upon request by a major client—further proof of our ability to deliver highly reliable, customized, and functional solutions.

• Temperature readout accuracy: ±0.5 °C over time

• Heating rate: 2 °C/min

• Cooling rate: 3 °C/min

• Allowable heat dissipation at –45 °C: 2000 W

• Adjustable relative humidity: from 20% to 95% RH
  (within +10 °C to +90 °C, subject to dew point limitations per the climatogram)

• Relative humidity readout accuracy: ±1% to ±3%

Efficiency, low noise, and control: the technological core of our Walk-In chambers
 

In this specific configuration, the refrigeration unit is installed outdoors and housed in a casing coated with high-resistance epoxy paint, designed to protect internal components for many years, even in challenging environmental conditions.

This solution provides two main advantages:

• Low noise levels in the operators' working area, with emissions below 52 dBA

• Minimal heat dissipation into the internal environment

Our remote refrigeration units are engineered to operate reliably even in tropical climates, without being affected by high summer temperatures.
Thanks to electronic fan speed controllers, the units also perform optimally in cold conditions, with ambient temperatures ranging from –10 °C to –20 °C.

Inside the chamber, the air treatment unit is ceiling-mounted, optimizing usable space.
The fans feature a single-shaft design with AISI 304 stainless steel impellers, powered by inverters that adjust airflow based on the active test cycle.

The steam injection system uses superheated steam, a solution that enhances both humidification precision and efficiency.

Completing the system is the “OZ CliMaLogic” control platform—the true intelligence center of the chamber.
Entirely developed in-house by Il Disgelo, this control system draws from the company’s extensive technical experience and is a direct evolution of the technologies developed by Ocras Zambelli, a historic brand acquired along with its entire technical and design archive.
