Dry Rooms for Lithium Research: precision and control for innovation in the battery industry
 

The ongoing evolution of the automotive sector, driven by the need for increasingly efficient electrification, is pushing research centers to seek highly advanced technical solutions—particularly for the handling of lithium and other strategic materials used in the production of high-capacity batteries.

Lithium, currently one of the most reliable and energy-dense materials available, must be processed in extremely controlled environmental conditions to ensure safety and performance.

To meet this need, Il Disgelo designs and builds high-performance Dry Rooms where the temperature is kept constant at 25 °C and relative humidity stays below 2%, with a dew point of –25 °C.
These conditions are achieved using a closed-loop system with continuously recirculated dry air, processed through a state-of-the-art enthalpic dryer.

Such extreme conditions require a number of special technical and construction measures, including:

• Continuous control of internal barometric pressure

• An air wash antechamber to isolate the Dry Room from external environments during operator entry

• An advanced air diffusion system designed to ensure uniform temperature and humidity throughout the entire room volume
