Corrosion is a complex degradation process driven by the combined action of salt fog, temperature, humidity, and drying phases. Standard static tests are often not sufficient to reproduce real operating conditions. For this reason, salt spray corrosion test chambers are a key tool to validate materials, surface treatments, coatings, and industrial components.

VELARYION is Il Disgelo’s dedicated line for salt spray corrosion testing, engineered to deliver reliable and repeatable results in compliance with major international standards, while ensuring continuous operation in highly aggressive environments.


Test philosophy

 

VELARYION chambers are designed to reproduce accelerated yet realistic environmental conditions by combining:

  • controlled salt spray exposure

  • high humidity phases

  • drying phases

  • temperature-controlled cycles

This approach helps identify corrosion mechanisms, critical areas, and long-term durability issues with a stronger correlation to real field conditions.


Operating parameters

VELARYION chambers cover a wide operating range to perform both standard and combined corrosion tests:

  • Temperature range: +20 °C to +70 °C

  • Relative humidity: 20% to 98% RH

  • Salt spray test modes: NSS, AASS, CASS

  • Additional test modes:

    • damp heat tests

    • dry tests

    • combined cycles with humidified air or dry air

The test basin is manufactured in Titanium (1 mm thickness), ensuring high resistance to corrosive agents and long-term stability, even during extended test campaigns.
