Ultra-low humidity environment with dew point down to −60 °C for advanced research and experimental activities
Il Disgelo designed for ENEA a custom DOT DROGON Dry Room of approximately 91 m³, intended for research activities requiring extremely controlled thermo-hygrometric conditions and very low humidity levels.
The solution was developed to maintain an internal temperature between +23 °C and +25 °C, with a dew point down to −45 °C with two operators inside and down to −60 °C with the room empty, integrating an insulated structure, dedicated air treatment, distribution through perforated ducts and specific provisions for activities involving moisture-sensitive materials.
Developed Solution
The Dry Room is built using modular prefabricated sandwich panels with high-density expanded polyurethane insulation, approximately 100 mm thick, and a pre-painted galvanized steel finish.
The structure integrates a dedicated airlock with double access, together with an additional connection to the storage area, allowing controlled movement of operators, materials and equipment.
The low-dew-point area is also equipped with a resin-coated floor acting as a vapour barrier, a fundamental feature for maintaining the required hygrometric performance.
The air-treatment system is connected to an enthalpy drying system and uses perforated air ducts designed to provide homogeneous air distribution throughout the usable volume.
The solution was developed to ensure:

Result

The combination of approximately 91 m³ of usable volume, dew point down to −60 °C, dedicated airlock, vapour barrier, perforated air distribution and dedicated glove box makes the solution suitable for advanced experimental activities on materials and components particularly sensitive to humidity, while maintaining high flexibility and integration with laboratory systems.
