Il Disgelo designed and built for MAHLE Aftermarket, at its Parma plant, a 2,000-litreDOT DRACARYS CZ-UHA-2000C monoblock climatic chamber for environmental testing under combined temperature and humidity control on components and equipment containing mildly flammable refrigerants.

Developed Solution

• monoblock structure with zinc-coated plastic-finished outer panelling and a mirror-polished AISI 304 stainless-steel interior, with 100 mm polyurethane insulation;
• hinged door with a 1000 × 2000 mm clear opening, heated multi-layer porthole and double gasket with anti-condensation heater;
• air treatment with heating elements and a low-GWP refrigeration unit, with a remote air-cooled condenser connected via dedicated gas and electrical lines;
• humidification via a non-pressurised electric steam generator and a demineraliser with digital conductivity meter; dehumidification via a dedicated coil;
• R1234yf and R290 gas detection with automatic air purge via an ATEX zone 2 extraction fan (750 m³/h), preferential power supply and door lock during purging;
• electronic refrigerant leak detector, with automatic shutdown of chamber functions and the extraction fan always active;
• automatic setpoint limit at +60 °C when the gas sensor is installed;
• CliMaLogic® control with touch panel, 3-level user management, programmable cycles, data recording and export, and remote supervision via Ethernet.

Result

The chamber enables MAHLE to perform environmental testing under combined temperature and humidity control, including on equipment containing flammable refrigerants, thanks to the integrated gas-detection and ATEX purge system, with stable, repeatable test conditions that can be managed remotely.
