Three dedicated solutions for climatic, vibration and environmental testing on components of different sizes

Il Disgelo developed for TÜV Rheinland – Milan area a project consisting of three different DOT climatic systems, designed to support environmental testing and validation activities on components and equipment with different dimensions and testing requirements.

The supply includes a 1000 L DOT DRACARYS, a 1872 L DOT VIBERION designed for integration with vibration systems, and a 12.5 m³ DOT DROGON Walk-In chamber, creating a complete test platform for thermal, climatic and combined testing.

Developed Solution

The project integrates three chambers with different volumes and performance characteristics, developed to cover complementary testing requirements.

The system was designed to provide:

  • climatic testing on components of different sizes;
  • temperatures down to −70 °C and up to +180 °C, depending on configuration;
  • rapid temperature variation rates up to 10 °C/min;
  • temperature and relative humidity control;
  • combined climatic and vibration testing using DOT VIBERION;
  • vertical lifting and lateral translation of the VIBERION chamber for shaker integration;
  • availability of a 12.5 m³ DOT DROGON Walk-In chamber for larger DUTs;
  • programming, recording and supervision of test cycles;
  • integration with external systems via Ethernet and Modbus TCP/IP.

All three systems use the CliMaLogic® control system with DOT Touch Panel, program management, data logging and test-data export.

  • heating rate: up to 10 °C/min;
  • cooling rate: up to 10 °C/min;
  • relative humidity: 10% to 98% RH;
  • movement system: hydraulic lifting and electric lateral translation;
  • installed power: approximately 67 kW.

DOT DROGON-H-12.5m³D-X5-W

  • usable volume: 12.5 m³;
  • internal dimensions: 2000 × 2500 × 2500 mm;
  • temperature range: −40 °C, configurable down to −70 °C, up to +180 °C;
  • heating rate: up to 5 °C/min;
  • cooling rate: up to 5 °C/min;
  • relative humidity: 10% to 98% RH;
  • internal heat dissipation: up to 8–10 kW;
  • reinforced floor: up to 1000 kg/m² evenly distributed;
  • installed power: approximately 70 kW.

Result

The project enabled TÜV Rheinland to create a test platform consisting of three complementary climatic systems, capable of handling environmental testing on DUTs of different sizes and, where required, combining climatic and vibration stresses within the same test cycle.

The combination of DOT DRACARYS, VIBERION and DROGON provides a broad testing capability for qualification and validation activities within a single laboratory infrastructure.
