Four custom 2.9 and 4.0 m³ climatic chambers integrated with test benches for electric drive systems
Il Disgelo developed for Industrelec, as part of a project for Stellantis in France, a supply consisting of four DOT TCEM climatic chambers dedicated to e-Axle testing.
The project includes two 2.9 m³ TCEM chambers and two 4.0 m³ TCEM chambers, the latter configured with Z-axis movement capability. The equipment was developed to integrate climatic conditioning directly with dynamometric test benches and with the mechanical, electrical and fluid interfaces required for testing electric drive systems.
Developed solution
The chambers use a modular structure composed of two joinable half-shells, designed to simplify installation and access to the e-Axle and its related connections with the test bench.
The 2.9 m³ configurations are dedicated to testing with fixed geometry, while the 4.0 m³ versions offer greater usable depth and dedicated interfaces allowing different shaft positioning along the Z axis.
The system was designed to ensure:
- controlled climatic testing on e-Axle and electric drive systems;
- four dedicated testing stations;
- two 2.9 m³ configurations and two 4.0 m³ configurations;
- integration with dynamometers and test benches;
- Z-axis movement in the 4.0 m³ chambers;
- temperature and relative humidity control;
- thermal gradients up to 4 °C/min;
- management of the thermal load generated by the DUT;
- reinforced structure for stresses generated by motor torque;
- dedicated feedthroughs for shafts, wiring and fluid circuits;
- specific interfaces for water/glycol circuits;
- cycle programming and data logging through CliMaLogic®;
- connection with external systems via Ethernet, Modbus TCP/IP and CAN-ready interface.

Result
The project made it possible to create a platform consisting of four DOT TCEM climatic systems dedicated to e-Axle validation, capable of supporting different test-bench configurations and different electric drive system geometries.
The combination of 2.9 and 4.0 m³ chamber volumes, Z-axis movement capability, dedicated interfaces for shafts and fluid circuits, and integrated climatic control enables thermal and climatic tests to be carried out directly around the e-Axle system while maintaining full integration with the testing infrastructure.
