Solution for thermal-climatic testing with high temperature gradients, humidity control and thermal-load management
Il Disgelo designed and manufactured for Ariston Thermo a custom Walk-In climatic chamber with a usable volume of approximately 15 m³, developed for thermal-climatic testing of components and systems under controlled environmental conditions.
The chamber was configured to operate over a wide temperature range, from −40 °C to +120 °C, with relative humidity control and the capability to manage internal thermal loads, integrating dedicated air-treatment, refrigeration, heating, humidification, dehumidification and safety systems.
Developed Solution
The configuration uses a fully welded Walk-In structure, designed to provide high mechanical strength and humidity containment even during cycles involving significant temperature variations.
The system integrates a two-stage refrigeration unit with a remote air-cooled condenser, a ceiling-mounted air-treatment system and dedicated temperature and humidity control systems.
The system was designed to provide:
- climatic and thermal testing on large components;
- temperature range from −40 °C to +120 °C;
- relative humidity control;
- temperature change rates up to 2 °C/min in heating and cooling;
- management of internal thermal loads up to 5 kW at −40 °C;
- uniform air distribution throughout the test volume;
- reinforced floor for high loads;
- remote refrigeration condenser to reduce heat and noise in the test area;
- dedicated systems for managing possible leaks of flammable refrigerants from the DUT;
- safety door interlock according to temperature and operating conditions;
- programming, recording and supervision of test cycles through CliMaLogic®;
- connection to external systems via Ethernet and Modbus TCP/IP.

The solution enables Ariston to perform controlled thermal-climatic testing on large components and systems, combining a wide temperature range, humidity control, thermal-load management and dedicated safety systems within a single custom Walk-In chamber.
The integration of a two-stage refrigeration unit, remote condenser, reinforced structure and CliMaLogic® control system allows complex test cycles to be managed with high operational flexibility.
